Kilimanjaro - In October this year Paul Stratton
set about climbing Kilimnajaro for charity. This is something
attempted by an increasing number of people. The difference
was that Paul aimed to be on the summit in under 72hours. Kilimanjaro
is an arduous trek made considerably harder by the altitude,
something often underestimated by the climbers, resulting in
40% not reaching the summit.
" My summit experience on Kilimanjaro was incredible. I was able to enjoy the views, take numerous photographs and fully appreciate the beauty of the landscape surrounding me. Members of other groups were oblivious to their stunning surroundings and trying their best to cope with nausea and dizziness. I have no doubt in my mind that using the Summit Oxygen system was the reason for it being such a pleasant and memeorable experience. The fact that I was able to ascend the steepest route on the mountain in just three nights is testament to the performance of the equipment. I used a single oxygen cylinder for the final ascent from the top camp (4600m) to the summit (5895m) and also for the descent."
Summit Oxygen has recently extended its operation to include Kilimanjaro. Please contact us for more details.
